UK Chapter of the IPBA - Annual General Meeting 2012
The 2012 UK Chapter Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday, April 14th at our usual venue, the Adelaide pub in Teddington Middlesex. A record turnout this year; 29 members and partners attended and an enjoyable time was had by all.
For the first time the weather wasn't quite warm enough to have lunch outside in the garden but the usual choice of good pub grub was just as good inside.
The meeting was over before lunch time and a small casual selling/swapping session took us until the start of the Grand National horse race for which Mike Flowers again organised a sweepstake. The kitty wasn't won by Jacky Berthold (this time!) but by Christina Heys.
Meeting highlights:
- We have a new Newsletter editor; Jonathan Redgrove has volunteered to produce our newsletters and issue them quarterly again. Depending on contributions from members it might be possible to increase the number of pages as well.
- Finances are better than last year
- Membership numbers have stayed fairly static. Annual subscriptions remain the same.
- Convention 2012. The one/two day format was discussed again and the vote was to stay as we are with a two day meeting. However, members will be able to register for whichever parts of the two days they can manage and the Sunday program will be beefed up with a speaker and perhaps other activities. We will again attempt to attract vintage and vanity sellers and buyers.
- 2013 Convention. Various locations were put forward; Return to Gloucester, return to the Comfort Inn near Heathrow, East Midlands Airport and the Dartford Crossing. These options will be priced and compared before getting the opinions of members.
- A second meeting at the Adelaide was suggested for a social/selling/swapping meeting and a provisional booking has been made for Saturday 30th June. More details to follow.
